I went to the BL today to look at a manuscript which turned out to have been dedicated either today or tomorrow*.

I still do not know which, and have been treasuring that liminality all day. I did ask a few people over the course of the day, but none of them knew whether the nones of May are on the seventh or the ninth.**

* albeit c. five hundred years ago.
** I will go look it up now that I have an internet.

The nones are nine days before the ides, which in May is the 15th, so that makes May 6th the nones?

Aw, rats. It's the 7th. Nones are on the 5th or 7th. -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_calendar#Months

"In March, July, October, May
The Nones are on the seventh day"

- surprised myself at remembering that from half a century ago.
