Sunglasses
I have no idea when sunglasses were invented/first made, but it's well after the time period I'm looking at. Colored glass has been around since as long as there has been glass, but I don't know when it was applied to eyeglasses for the specific purpose of protecting the eyes from the sun. Anyways, for most of my period, eyeglasses weren't even made out of glass - they were made out of carved rock crystal. Perhaps colored glass isn't even the issue, but plastic? I'll have to read up on it now!
Still, I suspect that if I looked at the lyrics of the songs I've thought about on time too closely, many of them will require electric clocks, so I shouldn't be too picky!

Re: Sunglasses
And I was only joking, really, about the sunglasses song ;) Still, one would imagine that those folks in sunny places like Italy would have thought of sunglasses sooner rather than later...where would you go to find out information like that anyhow?
