What did you think of Inn the Park? It's one of my favorite places to eat in London, but mostly for the view and the child friendliness. I prefer the casual options to the formal dining menu, but I really like that both the restaurant and cafe sections allows groups to expand, contract and circle the duck pond at will.
I've used the casual side of it a whole bunch over the years. I do really love the building and the location. Formal dining was a mixed experience. C. was unhappy with his meal: dry roast beef, cut way too thickly, served without gravy. A somewhat dull starter. I liked mine much better, largely because garlic butter makes almost anything good, and because any place with a good non-alcoholic menu which features lots of good juice confections has something important going for it.
So between us, we wouldn't go back for formal dining there, but it's still a good staple for lovely location.
