My mug of cocoa with kahlua in it is helping to make my day better. Really, it's the chocolate more than the alcohol. And it's a warm drink. I've had one of those persistantly inadequate kinds of day. It doesn't help that today's high is -11° C and the low is -17°. The world struggled to snow this morning, but it was too cold to do it properly. It was that incredibly fine-grained kind of snow which squeaks when you walk on it and is very slippery.

that's the same kind of snow we got last night, too. there's barely an inch on the ground, but it's stuck to everything, and a day later it's still squeaky.

my car has one of those combination compass/thermometer things above the rearview mirror. when i got in to go to bellydancing tonight, i looked at the temperature, and it said -14. i had a moment of stunned disbelief, before i remembered i'd switched it to celsius. it didn't help much, though, when i switched it back to fahrenheit and it told me it was 6 degrees. :P

I love squeaky snow :)

But I hope the oomphed-up cocoa helps ease the chill from your bones.

I e-mailed your advisor, and hope to find images of 'slow-matches' (slow-burning fuses for Medieval cannons) in hopes of finding something like my little booklight.

At the very least, I've not heard from anyone who says the booklight really dates from the 4th century BC :)
