owlfish: (Feast)

There's nothing like Thanksgiving to test a kitchen. We've had a fully functional (not fully decorated) kitchen since Wednesday, and today we tried out a full-fledged Thanksgiving for eight people on the space. It worked better than we'd hoped it would. Three of us could work in there at once as long as no one made sudden movements and we looked behind ourselves before backing away from anything. There's plenty of counterspace (for the first time in any kitchen we've ever had!) even though it isn't really all that big as a kitchen.

Turkey, gravy, orange-ginger sauce, (store-bought) cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, stuffing, wild rice, salad, potato-and-cauliflower with capers (which was really good), and freshly-baked bread rolls (courtesy of one of our guests). It was all traditional and tasty and happy. For dessert, we broke with the tradition which demands pie, and had a Gü chocolate-orange tart with vanilla ice cream and - for refreshment - grapes. Mmm.
