There are real problems with taking photographs of food as it arrives in a restaurant.
  • The food is designed to be eaten at a certain temperature. It may rapidly lose that temperature if photograhy keeps it waiting.

  • The lighting in restaurants is rarely condusive to good photography.

  • Using a flash or a tripod is particularly disruptive for other patrons.

On the other hand, it means I can show you what we ate last night at The Lock Bar and Restaurant.

Wood pigeon perched on a fabulous, bird-stock-rich bright-pink beetroot risotto (starter)

Haddock Pilchard with pasta bake (starter)

Flowery-herbed pork with crackling, potatoes-and-cabbage, black pudding roundel, soft-cooked apple, and pulses

A mountain of aged beef, with sides (for two people)

Risotto (vegetarian)

Peach soup with vanilla rice pudding (slightly undercooked rice, otherwise lovely)

Hot chocolate fondant with cinnamon ice cream

Frangipane tart with berry jelly and sorbet
