it had just gone midnight and the luminaria were still going strong. The snowfall from a few days past prettied up the existing snow, and just enough days had passed that the roads were mostly clear. Thousands of luminaria line the circular roads: both sides of each sidewalk and most of the driveways. They were quietly illumianted by long-burning candles in white paper bags, weighted with sand. Perched on the snow, the warm gold of flame burned contentedly in white bags on white snow. Cars snaked slowly along. A photographer stopped in the chill to capture the moment.
