Five years and three days ago, I started this weblog as a way of keeping track of dissertation writing word counts. Along the way, it's turned into daily writing exercise, food blog, travelogue, and academic commentary. Best of all, it's kept me in touch with friends and family, and introduced me to new and interesting people.
In years past, I've commemorated this day by classifying my f'list and the blogs I read by how I came across them in the first place. I may still do that, but the historian in me thought it more urgent to commemorate the day before it was too far past than to go through and put everyone into piles and delay posting further because of it. Here in transit, places come and go - but the world of weblogs is constant.
