Today is a good day. I've finished a delightfully fun book (Wodehouse's Hot Water), which had the good graces to last me until after I'd arrived at my destination. I spent a lovely ten minutes listening to a good opera singer perform in the middle of Paddington rail station. (She was a fundraiser, not a busker, thus the privileged location.) The weather is absolutely beautiful, neither too hot nor too cold, with the occasional cloud in a blue sky. My weekend accommodation overlooks currently-tranquil green sports fields and trees, not a human in sight. There was leftover broad bean and fennel salad for part of lunch.

I'm in Oxford for the Oxford Symposium on Food and Cookery, a wonderful, quirky, and sold-out conference I last attended two years ago. This weekend should be good too.
