- I don't know that I'm cheering on any particular country, but I am cheering on a particular athlete. Shawn Johnson is from West Des Moines, just down the road from where I grew up.
- I loved the movable type dance in the opening ceremonies! Talk about an accessible way to communicate aspects of history of technology!
- I've been thinking about Toronto a lot this week. The Olympics aren't there and they could have been. Toronto bid for these games. I went down to Union Station for the proto-celebration when the decision was made back in 2001, big screen, balloons, magnets. As parties go, it was a bit of a hollow one since the city didn't get the games. I still have the magnets though.
