One day in the past few weeks, I attended the meeting of a small academic group which deals with a topic on which I am an Expert. Although none of them did go out of their way to meet me, for perhaps the first time in my life, I felt that this was their loss rather than mine.

Unrelatedly, I am now committed to giving a paper at the IMC at Leeds. This is the second-to-last in my "Origins of the Mechanical Arts" series. If I find a home for medicina, I will have given them all. Having done all the research for this series more-or-less one paper at a time, I'm now ready to write an article on it all. It's a laconic way to finish off a research project, but, with conference deadlines to ensure it all happening one unit at a time, very effective!
