I flew back to Toronto yesterday, after a lovely and restful trip to visit my family. I picked up my computer from the repair shop this morning. For the first time in 3 weeks, I am the proud owner of a working computer.

I haven't looked at email in a week. I haven't read weblogs in at least two weeks. There'll be plenty for me to catch up on!

When I said my computer was fixed, I meant it booted up fine and with a displaying screen when I checked at the shop. Now it doesn't work again. The backlight's gone. At least there's a ninety day warranty on parts, so when I take it back tomorrow, the work will be covered by that. Still, it's depressing. At what point will I just have to buy a new computer, or is it still fixable by some other means?
