The rain was due to arrive yesterday, but luckily it held out. There was some spectacular sheet lightning, but only a very transient sprinkle of actual rain. Last night, you see, we hosted a barbecue in honor of the fourth of July, featuring hamburgers, hotdogs, coleslaw, and chimenea-toasted marshmallows, none of which we had the burden of providing, thanks to the industrious planning of friends of ours. The only thing really lacking was sparklers! (Well... I did provide lemonade. And had anyone been hungry enough, ice cream sundaes.)

The rain is still due to arrive and outside, the day is very darkly overcast.
