This week I discovered that I really do attend a large university. I've been there several years and only just learned that it owns a reasonable medieval art collection, the Malcove. I feel chagrined that I didn't know sooner, especially since I was under the impression I knew the campus' medieval resources reasonably well, as well as the city's museum's medieval collections. At least I didn't learn this after I'd left the city!

In a moment of idle thought, I realized I could think of songs related to all aspects of my dissertation, with the exception of eyeglasses. Are there any songs out there either about eyeglasses, or with some major references to them in them? It would be even better if it were used as an analogy than just in a physical description of someone.

As you might be able to deduce from this thought, I have indeed accomplished some real work and writing this morning. It won't last though. The adventures of St. Wilfrith and Latin class call.
