It's late but I need to be started on Latin homework before I sleep.

In a tangent of late-evening web flitting, I just noticed that I've been noticed by the Digitial Medievalist. In little ways and pieces, this, added to everything else which happened today, makes me feel a bit more well-networked.

I had no idea Canada was acquiring itself a new coin. As it turns out, it's a temporary issue, and the treasury isn't likely to do more than one run. I went to pay for a stamp this afternoon and, instead of two quarters, was handed only one shiny silvery coin. At first I thought the change was wrong, but then I realized the coin didn't look usual. It's a loonie-sized shiny silver thing, issued in honor of Queen Elizabeth's Jubilee festivities. It came out somewhen this past week when she was in town.

[livejournal.com profile] cwjat had yet another farewell party tonight, and in theory this is her last one (for now at least), since she flies out tomorrow. This one was at a generally nice Indian restaurant. Except, I have to say, I've never had such a flavorless korma in my life. But that's just me, everyone else's dishes had plenty of flavor, and I won't hold it against them. I just wouldn't order it again.

Meanwhile, Steve, who's only just gotten back into town, had a social gathering tonight - so C. and I went straight from the one event to the other, and arrived with over an hour of socialization time to spare. We spent most of the time catching up with Gordon, the host of music night. He's busily engrossed in dry-walling season. If you know a bricklayer in the Toronto area, he'd like to know. I can pass on names and contact details.

My OGS materials are nearly all together - I just need to do some form-filling in the morning. I have all the transcripts, and just tonight I finally had email from my second referee committing to doing it. I even went to claim my carrel today. I haven't seen it yet, but my excitement was somewhat deflated in the afternoon by running into Religion Karen who, after months of excitement looking forward to carrel prospects, found it was very tiny, with a sliver of a window, and just not all that great. She's considering giving hers up again.

Badminton was less strenuous than usual since we did no warmups and spent most of the time learning backhand short serve and practicing it. That, and only half the class showed. Clearly, I don't blend in with the classes predominant social group, a group of bonded undergrads dressed in sports chic. I have a good sense of style, I'd like to think, it just doesn't extent to sportswear.

Most of the rest of my week will be swamped with SHOT volunteerism and session attendance. I'm doing 5 hours tomorrow. In the morning, I must submit my OGS material or it'll never happen. And check up on whatever happened to those business cards. I'd been hoping to have 'em by now.
