I was up until 3am last night, singing, with my once-a-month music night. Consequently I slept in, and we went out to brunch before any other real interactions with the world occured. Mitzi's had a lovely cardamon-papaya-sour cream topping to their pancake today, very tasty indeed. We walked back. The world's warmed up so much - it's actually above freezing today, and the layers and layers of snow are seeping into enormous puddles which are slowly barricading in the sidewalks.

After email, I started reading weblogs, starting with the LJ ones. And that's how I found out about the shuttle breakup. It's the first time I've encountered major news through other peoples' commentaries, and it was a momentarily surreal experience for me. Four different people - among those whose logs I've checked thus far - have posted on it thus far, so I could find out a fair amount before even seeking out more traditional news sources. I'm still trying to figure out why I find this method of news-discovery odd, since it's capable of being at least as useful and timely as any other method.

Happy Year of the Sheep/Ram/Goat (take your pick).
